Counting our many blessings... Ike knocked out a small tree in our front yard... and that was the extent of the damage we suffered... apart from this, we had no electricity for two weeks, and the girls were out of school for 10 days. The first week was a little easier to bare, social gatherings at night with the neighbors, board games and talent shows with the girls, and very nice weather. We went to Wendy’s house the first weekend after the storm to enjoy electricity, air conditioning, and to do get some laundry done. Then, on the second week after Ike, the temperatures rose, and living got much more uncomfortable. Friends from Church had us for dinner basically every day of the week, and we borrowed a generator. Their help made everything much, much easier. Many thanks to everyone, who kept us in their mind during these weeks.

This is another house from our neighborhood. They had a big tree fall on the front of their house, and they had to cover the roof damage in the middle of the storm.

We saw the first images of the destruction at Galveston almost ten days after the storm... having lost power for two weeks will never compare to not having a house to go back to. We continue to count our blessings.
