On the evening of January 27th, 2008, our beloved prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley passed away at age 97. It will be hard for us to let him go, as we have enjoyed hearing his teachings and his great sense of humor for such a long time. He has definitively been one of the great men who has lived in this beautiful world of ours, and one who has been admired and loved by at least 13 million people worldwide. His love for others and his willingness to relief those in need were an evidence that he knew Christ, and that he tried every day to follow His example.

As part of the local translation team, Gerardo had been his interpreter the day before when he spoke to the members of the Church in Nicaragua. Gerardo’s personal account on this experience is filled with expressions of gratitude and his testimony of how strongly he felt the influence of the Holy Ghost while he was in the proximity of President Hinckley.
