Christmas 2007
Early in the afternoon on December 24th we went to the cemetery and took flowers and Christmas ornaments for my brother Byron and for Gerardo's Grandfather. Later in the evening we ate dinner at my in-laws' and right before midnight, everybody at Gerardo's house drove up to my parents' to open the children's presents there. As we were driving up the hills, we could see fireworks all along the valley’s horizon; it was quite a spectacular view. My mom had stayed home because she had not felt well that night, so it was really nice of everybody to join her at her house and sing carols to her. On the night of the 25th, we went to aunt Emmy's house (Gerardo's aunt) following an old tradition in Gerardo's mother's family. We had a great time there, and we really enjoyed seeing and talking to everyone again. Considering aunt Emmy went through brain surgery in 07 - being able to share time with her and eat her delicious tamales was a real miracle... thank you, aunt Emmy!! Sadly, Gerardo forgot to take more pictures that night...
